Managing Security
Artifactory provides extensive security capabilities that give you fine-grained control over who can download what, where they can put it, and then who can access it. You can restrict anything from complete repositories down to a single artifact, and from a group of any size down to a single developer. Naming patterns use wildcard characters to define “Excludes” or “Includes” for download. With this flexible mechanism you can define anything from a whole repository to be excluded from your organization’s access, to including a single artifact within a repository which may be critical for your development efforts. Once you have decided what can be downloaded to your servers, users, groups, permissions and permission targets let you control access to the artifacts in your system. And if it’s access to your servers that you’re concerned about, Artifactory supports user authentication using LDAP, Active Directory and other common security protocols.
