Vdoo’s technology for analyzing and securing software packages will fuel JFrog’s security and runtime technology expansion.

Liquid software company JFrog Ltd (NASDAQ: FROG) inked an agreement to acquire Vdoo Connected Trust Ltd in a cash and stock-based deal valued at $300 million.

Acquisition to deliver new software security capabilities across universal types of software releases in a unified DevOps platform

DevOps platform provider JFrog has once again opened its wallet — this time for device security specialist Vdoo.

It’s also worth noting that this acquisition will bolster JFrog’s in-house “security experts” personnel, with its team tripling across engineering, marketing, and sales.

“This move will amplify JFrog’s current success with our security solution, JFrog Xray, and create the expectation that ‘fearless releases’ will be the experience for both security and development teams,” said JFrog Chief Executive Officer Shlomi Ben Haim

JFrog CTO Yoav Landman said acquiring Vdoo is critical because when it comes to implementing DevSecOps best practices, the only meaningful place to discover and remediate vulnerabilities is in the binaries deployed in production environments.

JFrog and Vdoo will combine to deliver advanced security offerings for developers and security engineers, with a particular focus on securing the full software lifecycle through DevSecOps.

Vdoo is not JFrog’s first foray into security, but it represents a significant step deeper into the hardware and systems that are being run on software. “It’s a very important leap forward,” Ben Haim said.
