Here are some points to consider:
- Your filestore size should be able to account for future growth, plus the space necessary to execute temporary work, such as expanding archive deployments.
- In Artifactory version 7.x, if you navigate to Administration > Artifactory > Advanced > Maintenance (in Artifactory versions 6.x and under, navigate to Admin > Advanced > Maintenance), you can see the Cron Expression for your Garbage Collection. This should be set for a time that’s different enough from your IT level and Artifactory backups that it won’t cause any conflicts.
- In the same location, you’ll find Quota Management, a configurable setting that will trigger warnings when your filestore space becomes a concern.
- You should reserve approximately 100 GB free in your Artifactory installation for logs and temporary work.
- If you’d still prefer to let Artifactory execute your backups, they should be stored on a disk other than those you use for your NFS filestore and your Artifactory installation, being certain to tick the Incremental option checkbox. Additionally, your backups should only contain a few, select local repositories that contain staged or release-level artifacts.
