XRAY: The difference between ‘Block Download’ ‘Block unscanned Artifacts’

Block Download: When set, Artifactory will block download of artifacts that meet the Artifact Filter and Severity Filter specifications for this watch. 

This option will block artifacts that were scanned & there are violations for this artifact based on the configured policy & the artifact’s retention period has not expired. 

Block Unscanned Artifacts: When set, Artifactory will block download of artifacts that meet the Artifact Filter specifications for this watch. 

This will block download of artifacts that were never scanned / artifacts that their retention period has expired. 

In case of already scanned artifacts that were added later to a watch with a block download policy,  Navigate to Watches & Policies > Watches and click on “Apply on Existing Content” for the watch. In the pop up window you can choose to apply the watch on older artifacts, and also by a custom range:
