This article describes how to configure Xray Jira Integration using the Basic Authentication method.

Atlassian announces the deprecation notice of Basic authentication with passwords. Hence, Xray Jira Integration with the basic authentication (username and password) does not work. You will see the below error in the logs.

Unable to get jira projects, details: Invalid credentials, response from jira: Invalid credentials, response from jira : Basic authentication with passwords is deprecated.  For more information, see: https://developer.atlassian.com/cloud/confluence/deprecation-notice-basic-auth/

To integrate Xray with Jira using basic authentication, we need to use API Key instead of the password. For that, create the API Key in the Jira portal from Security > Create and Manage API Tokens. Please find the below screenshot for reference:

In the Xray Jira Integration screen, provide API Key instead of a password and verify the integration by clicking on “Test Jira Connectivity”.
