Configure Archive Instance

This topic describes how to create a new archive instance and connect it to an active instance. The archive instance is used in the smart archiving solution to offload archive items from the active instance.

Prerequisite

Active InstanceSet Up Your Cloud Topology

Follow these steps to create and associate an archive instance with an active instance:

Navigate to Topology Page

  1. In the My JFrog Dashboard, click Topology.

  2. In the Topology page, click Configure Now.

Configure Archive under Available Archive Instance (X)

Note

No changes are allowed to the instance configuration once configured.

  • Name

  • Provider

  • Region

  • Association

  • JPD Type

Contact JFrog support for any changes.

Scroll down in the Configure JPDs page where you can view Available Archive Instance (x) section and add JPDs:

Note

All fields are mandatory.

  1. In the Archive Name field, enter name of the archive instance.

    Note

    • We recommend to give a meaningful name.

    • The naming convention and criteria for Archive Name must be as follows:

      • unique

      • 3 - 32 characters long

      • start with a letter

      • only lowercase characters or numbers

  2. From the Associated JPD drop-down list, select the associated JPD instance you want to configure with archive instance.

    Note

    • Both active instance and archive instance must be of same provider and region.

    • The selected active instance will define the provider and region of the archive instance as they must be the same.

    • An active instance must be created prior to setting up a new archive instance.

  3. Enter Password and Validate Password.

    Note

    The password criteria must be as follows:

    • 8 - 32 characters long

    • at least one uppercase and one lowercase character

    • at least one number

    • at least one special character

  4. Click Update.

    Note

    • After you enter all required information, the dialog will display an All Set indicator.

    • A popup notification appears that the JPDs are being added. Click Got it! to close the notification.

    • The Topology tab now shows an indicator at the top that the JPDs are being added and the environment is being updated.

    • This process may take a few minutes. When the configuration completes:

    • Any archive instance not associated with an active instance is listed separately and the status is shown Pending.

View Configured Archive Instances

At the top of the page, you will see a notification You have <X> JPDs ready to be configured.

  • JPD Name: The name of the active instance. Under this, configured archive instance details are shown.

  • Type: Indicates the type of JPD. Available Types are as follows:

    • Platform: Active instance

    • Archive: The archive instance is associated with the Active instance and the status is shown as Active.

      Note

      If the archive instance is not associated with any active instance, the status is shown as Pending. It is shown as a separate entity just like other JPDs.

  • Provider: Indicates the type of Cloud provider.

  • Region: Indicates the region of the deployed instance.

  • Status: Indicates the status of the instance.

    • Active: The archive instance is associated with the active instance.
