By default, when a cleanup policy is created it is set as inactive. Therefore, you need to first activate the policy before it can run according to the automated Schedule Execution or before you trigger a run manually.

Note

JFrog recommends that you first perform a dry run and review its results before you activate a policy. This helps prevent unintended deletion. For more information on performing a dry run, see Perform a Dry Run on a Cleanup Policy.

To activate a cleanup policy:

  1. At the top of the Artifactory screen, click the Administration tab.

  2. In the navigation panel on the left-hand side of the screen, go to Artifactory Settings>Retention Policies. The Retention Policies screen is displayed.

  3. If your version of Artifactory is configured for cold storage archiving, click the Cleanup tab. If your version of Artifactory is not configured for cold storage archiving, the Cleanup tab is selected by default.

  4. In the row of the policy you want to activate, go to the Active column and toggle the policy to Active. The policy is activated.

Once active, the policy will automatically run according to the schedule that you set when you created the policy. You can also manually run it as explained in Manually Run a Cleanup Policy.
