Federated repositories enable enterprises that operate across multiple sites to maintain a single source of truth for their binaries. Artifacts and metadata in one JFrog Platform Deployment (JPD) are mirrored to the Federated repositories in the other JPDs that together comprise the Federation. Changes made to an artifact on one Federation member are replicated asynchronously to the other members.
Federated repositories were first introduced to Artifactory in release 7.18.3. To meet the growing needs of customers, JFrog has moved the feature into a standalone service to ensure the timely synchronization of huge volumes of artifact metadata between customer sites.
The following are the features of RTFS:
A new monitoring dashboard with a clear and simple way to view the state of all Federated repositories.
A new set of APIs.
The ability to prioritize specific members.
Improved auto-healing and recovery operations.
This service is available from Artifactory version 7.104 and is disabled by default. You can enable this service only via Helm installation with the PostgreSQL database. To enable this service, see Installing RTFS.
