ARTIFACTORY: How to troubleshoot filesystem layer verification failed for digest error in Docker
The “filesystem layer verification failed to digest” error usually indicates that the downloaded layer’s sha256 value differs from the one stated in the manifest file of the Docker image.
This can be observed when the sha layer is being downloaded in a corrupted state for various reasons, such as a timeout, misconfigured reverse proxy/load balancer, connection failure.. etc.
The recommended solution is to delete the corrupted/problematic checksum layer either by searching and deleting it from the Artifactory UI or by using the AQL query.
Using Artifactory UI :
You can use the Artifact Search in the UI and select the Type to “Checksum” and enter the sha value and select the Repositories in which you want to search for the particular checksum. This will display all the entries of this particular layer in the Artifactory and you can choose them and delete them.
Using AQL query :
You can use the below AQL query to search for the artifacts having the sha256 value.
curl –u username -X POST "https://test.jfrog.com/artifactory/api/search/aql" -H "Content-Type: text/plain" -d 'items.find({"type":"file", "sha256":"6120be6a2b7rtvv3665d0cbddc3ce6eae60fe94637c6a66985312d1f02f63cc0bcd"})'
Also make sure to verify and delete the sha layer from the Trash can as well. After deleting the layer, perform a Zap Cache on the repository and then you can try pulling the Docker image again from the repository.
