Description
At times, after your Artifactory cluster has been running for a period, some nodes may become inaccessible. On the UI, these nodes appear under "Offline", and their Service Status is displayed as "Stale".
Usually, a time difference between this node's system clock and those of healthy nodes will cause its Service Status to show as "Stale".
Solution
The issue can be solved by following the steps:
- Log in the server of this unhealthy node and check whether there is a time difference between its system clock and those of the healthy nodes. For example, run the "date" command on this node and the healthy node at the same time and compare them:
$ date
Sat Dec 20 16:56:25 CST 2025
- If the time on this node is out of sync (i.e., there is a time difference) with the other healthy nodes, perform time synchronization on this node. For example, on a system such as "CentOS Stream release 9", you may run the following commands:
systemctl restart chronyd
chronyc makestep

If the "chronyc" command is not available, you can install it via:
dnf install chrony && systemctl enable --now chronyd
- Once the time is synchronized, restart Artifactory. The service should then be running normally.
