ARTIFACTORY: How to configure Artifactory as Symbol Server and integrate with Visual Studio

Building and publishing the Symbol Nuget packages using Azure DevOps Server CI/CD tool

The process to build and publish the Symbol Nuget packages using Azure DevOps.

1. Create a Nuget Azure pipeline job that creates the files nupkg and symbols.nupkg files that we wanted to deploy to the Nuget local repository in Artifactory.
As an example, I have created TestProject.1.0.0.nupkg & TestProject.1.0.0.symbols.nupkg packages.

2. Once the Symbol packages are deployed, Artifactory indexes the TestProject.1.0.0.symbols.nupkg file internally and extracts the relevant Symbol files ( .pdb ) and deploys them to the Nuget local repository in the below pattern as mentioned in the confluence page.

We have successfully deployed the files to nuget local package.

Integrating with visual studio

1. In Visual Studio, navigate to Tools > Options > Debugging > General, uncheck the Enable Just My Code field.

2. Set Artifactory to be your Symbol Server in Visual Studio by navigating to Tools > Options > Debugging > Symbols and add the virtual or local repository URL path of Artifactory.

3. Create a dotnet project in which we have configured TestProject.1.0.0.nupkg as a dependency and we have to use the code from the dependency. We can add Breakpoint on the Console.WriteLine("testing"); for debugging purposes.

4. After starting the application in debug mode, we would be able to locate the TestProject.pdb file as expected. We may refer to the below screenshots.
